The certificate is valid for 12 months from the date of issue and yearly certificates will be issued on satisfactory inspections being completed annually.
Accreditation application papers are available to PIAA financial members
Accreditation certificates are issued to members, after satisfactory inspection by local health or environment officers.

Industry Promotion Issues
One of the goals of the PIAA is to create a better understanding among consumers of the benefits of buying products manufactured and distributed by PIAA members.
PIAA contributed to the adoption by the National Food Authority of Ice Sanitation Standards as part of a food code. The code recognises that ice is a food, and should be produced and marketed as such.
PIAA seeks to emphasize the importance of safe food facilities for producing and packaging ice. PIAA members are asked to address local, state and regional health officials and share their knowledge regarding the need for all ice producers who sell ice to the public (including hotels) to utilise food safe practices. This includes actual food safe production techniques, identification of the producer on the bags, and recall procedures..
